THE ELEGANCE OF ALL THINGS
for Georgia O’Keefe (1887-1986)

Through animal pelvis holes
blue sky effortlessly gentle

Surroundings
full-circle cinematography

Splayed red oak
dances silver

Defiant bluebird
puffs chest

Muted bluish-green teal mates
wing through

Apple vines dense
appear to choke
tenaciosuly proclaiming exposed
firey red-coated seeds

Dried arrowroot, arrowhead,
bleeding heart, shepherdess

Persevering twisted jasmine bush,
spiny bract, bristled teasel,
split-open milkweed

Not a sound from the city

No tangle of lives here

Skin breathes clean
