see it’s a two way
street when you say

you love someone:
a truth hopefully,

from inside I:
a decent truth;

making room enough
for two.

Such presence
we could have together.

Outside, the rain, the wind
all around us,

the openness of the bare
November trees

all around us
so much like us:

beginning here/
could be our

beginning here:
the new year

But you deny it
and just speak the words

and just
speak

the words:
the I

failing again:
the one direction

again: away
from the life inside;

the opening up in there,
growing from there.

There is a truth here
but it won’t be noticed
